Skylar Kim is an active orchestral violinist, chamber musician, and teacher currently based out of Chattanooga, TN. She has performed in various notable orchestras including the Nashville Symphony Orchestra, Knoxville Symphony Orchestra, Louisville Orchestra, Huntsville Symphony, Richmond Symphony Orchestra, and has recently been appointed as a member of the Chattanooga Symphony. Along with performing in large ensembles, she has a passion for performing in chamber groups, and has received training from members of the Calidore, Kronos, Ariel, and Juilliard String Quartets.

Kim is an avid teacher alongside her performing career and has a great passion for music education. She has experience teaching students of all ages and skill levels. For her beginner students, she provides a Suzuki-inspired structure with flexibility to suit each individual student. For more advanced students, she enjoys teaching a range of advanced repertoire with a focus on playing comfortably, without tension, and with ease of mind.

Mrs. Kim received her Bachelor’s Degree at Belmont University studying with Alison Gooding-Hoffman. She received her Master’s Degree at the Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music under the tutelage of Timothy Lees, former concertmaster of the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra. 

When she is not performing, Skylar enjoys spending time with her husband and animals, sewing, and reading.
